Dear Sir/Madam
I am writing this objection on behalf of my parents $Sedacted
89 & 90 years old respectively who live at the above address. They have full knowledge of this objection letter and have given me the authority to write this. There are several reasons they have to object listed below.
- The proposed extension and raising of the roof will massively impact on my parents' privacy. They are housebound and so their garden is a massive part of their lives. The proposals will mean that they will be completely overlooked both in the front garden and directly over the entire back garden. The proposed large windows and balcony will mean that they will be in the position of being 'looked over' constantly.
- The proposals will mean that the boundary hedge will no longer provide privacy as the numerous planned large windows will overlook it. These windows would mean a view into my parents front room and from the proposed balcony to the rear, a view into my parents' bedroom and kitchen.
- My parents had their bungalow built in 1972 and have lived in it ever since. The views to the rear are one of the reasons they bought the plot of land to build on. Obviously 'The Rowans' are afforded the same view but by building this extension they are effectively ruining my parents'as they will have a building next to them which will be extremely dominating.
- This is a very rural area. This particular stretch of road consists of bungalows and small cottages. A building of the proposed sized will look particularly out of place and character.
- My father has been a keen vegetable and fruit grower all his life and every year grows successfully various crops, i.e. tomatoes, potatoes etc. As he has got older, this is his main hobby and how he spends the majority of this time. His greenhouse is placed alongside the current boundary hedge. If the proposed changes were to go ahead it would block the majority of the sunlight to my fathers greenhouse which was originally placed to make the most of the natural from the south.
- My parents are 89 & 90 years old. As I am sure you can appreciate, they are very upset and unsettled by this application. Not only would it mean being constantly overlooked. They are also extremely worried and upset about the amount of noise and disruption works of this nature would mean to them. They have various ailments and love the peace and solitude their home life affords to them in their failing years.
- The road outside my parents' house and 'The Rowans' is also subject to traffic calming measures. It has been a notorious black spot for accidents and 'The Rowans' is built on a blind corner. All the traffic associated with major building works will cause major disruption and would cause the road outside my parents' house to become extremely hazardous.
In conclusion, my parents strongly object to this planning application. It would mean a very major negative change to their whole way of life after living in their bungalow for 45 years. They would lose all of their privacy, a lot of their natural light and sunlight. The proposed height of the building would cause long shadows to be cast over them for the majority of the day. My parents are not in the position to have the choice of moving house and nor do they want to. They are too infirm to physically and mentally go through it. I think all of this will have a massive detrimental effect on them.
Yours Sincerely
