Dear Sir/Madam,
Herewith is an extract from minutes of a recent meeting of Santon Commissioners.
19/01041/B: Part field 514329 Ballavartyn Equestrian Centre: Erection of four terraced units and one attached unit to provide disabled accessible tourist living accommodation with associated roads, gardens and parking.
Cautionary objection: There has been a considerable amount of development at this location and the Commissioners are concerned that should tourism decline then there will be an inevitable application for change of use to residential as has occurred in another location in Santon (Ballaquiggin). It is also worth noting that the tourist development at Port Grenaugh makes slow progress under the same owner as Ballaquiggin. If the Planning Office is content with such a situation then so be it but the Commissioners would rather that there be a condition that this development be for tourist purposes only with no recourse to change of use at a later date. The sacred cow of Tourism is always a door opener for property development.
There is also the matter of the hazard of dense and fast traffic passing along the main arterial road to Castletown immediately outside this burgeoning development.
19/01049/B: 5 Balnahow Farm Cottages: Balnahow IM4 1HN: Erection of porch extension, detached stables and alterations to access lane. No objection.
19/01106/B: Ballachrink Farmhouse Old Castletown Rd. IM4 1HD: Alterations & erection of extension. No objection.
Yours faithfully,
Howard Benson, Clerk to Santon Commissioners. 822761.
