Due to a dangerous situation with the existing roof slate, metal frames and glass which originates from the early 1900's; on the grounds of safety we have had to replace the roof. We had an immediate H&S concern and communicated with the department on the same. We have stripped the roof and we are looking to replace with a slate effect Cambrian tile by Redland in order to reduce weight and save purlins and frames from change to maintain the original structure, the roof area is less than 20% of the overall roof, and we have also had separate discussions with the building control department.

For trees to be retained you will need to demonstrate that the constraints imposed by these trees have been properly considered and that the trees can be adequately protected.
The above works must be discussed with the Department's Forestry, Amenity & Lands Directorate before the application is submitted. The Planning Officer may also require you to submit a Tree Survey.

We have attached copies of the type of Cambrian black slate colour tile; this colour matches what was installed previously. We have also attached some pictures showing the dangerous glass and frame. On removal of further sections to make safe, it is clear the level of corrosion and the dangerous situation we have averted. We have striven to maintain the structure. The use of Cambrian allows us to do just that.
