On receipt and validation of this form you (or your Agent) will be issued with a site notice to a) send a copy of the notice to every owner or occupier (known by you) of the building that is subject of the application or any part of it and b) display a copy of the notice at the site by fixing it firmly to the building, or other structure or object on or near the building that is the subject of the application so that it is easily visible by members of the public from a public highway and is unlikely to become obscured or concealed and to ensure that it remains so displayed for a period of not less than 21 days.
Where the Department directs under the Registered Building Regulations 2013 7(3) that further particulars or other matters are furnished and the applicant fails to comply with that direction and within such time as is given (not being less than 21 days) this application may be treated as withdrawn.

A Registered Building is a building of special architectural or historic interest which has been included in the Department's Protected Buildings Register.
It is an offence to carry out any works (internally or externally) affecting the character of a Registered Building without the written consent of the Department.
An up to date list of the Register is available from the Department or its website. There is no fee required for applications for Registered Building Consent. An application for Registered Building Consent is required where demolition, extension or alteration to a Registered Building is proposed. The application must be submitted to and approved by the Department prior to any work being undertaken.
As required under the Regulations any application for Registered Building Consent must be supported by a certificate of building ownership Certificate O3, (available to download online).
Application for Registered Building Consent may also be required where demolition is proposed with a Conservation Area.
Where works are to the exterior of the property, FIVE copies of this form must be submitted along with ALL supporting information and plans. Registered Building Consent is required in ADDITION to any application for the appropriate planning permission. Where the works proposed are internal FOUR copies of this form must be submitted, each supported by a set of the appropriate plans, information and details.
Please also note Buildings Regulations approval may also be required and advice on this should be obtained from the appropriate authority.
The supporting information, which should accompany this application form, must be set out as a schedule of works. Alternatively, Table 1 of this form can be used to set out how the Registered Building is proposed to be altered and/ or extended. Either format must be supported by drawings and/or specifications and/or photographs, explaining the existing appearance of the historic fabric and how it will be affected by the proposals.
A site location plan and a site plan must also be provided at an appropriate scale such that the Registered Building is clearly outlined in red and its curtilage, if different, clearly outlined in blue.
The applicant's attention is drawn to the Policy and Guidance Notes for the Conservation of the Historic Environment of the Isle of Man (Planning Policy Statement 1/10 is available from Planning and Building Control) and in particular to Policies RB/S and RB/6.
