General Policy 3
General Policy 3 of the Strategic Plan 2016 presumes against development outside areas zoned for development in locations like the Southern Uplands, except for essential rural uses. The officer assessed the containers as acceptable for sport and recreation facilities under SP paragraph 10.1.1, which supports open space and recreation to improve quality of Island life. On balance, with conditions, they would not cause unacceptable harm despite not being ideal compared to approved built extensions.
Dark green colouring
All the containers hereby approved shall be finished in the same dark green colour, either as installed or within one month of their installation, and shall thereafter be maintained in the same colour for the duration of their use on the site. Reason: In the interests of visual amenity.
Removal if recreation ceases
Should the use of the site for recreation purposes cease, all the containers hereby approved shall be removed from the site within two months of the cessation of that use. Reason: In the interests of visual amenity.
