Highways Division opposes the creation of a third field access due to safety risks and failure to meet design standards; Lezayre Parish Commissioners unanimously refused the application citing insufficient justification for a third gate.
Key concern: no justification provided for field requiring 3 points of access onto the highway
Department of Infrastructure (DOI) Highways Division
ObjectionThe proposal is for a new field access onto Sulby Glen Road. The field curretnly has 2 access gates... the proposal is to create yet access between the two. There is no justification provided for 1 field requiring 3 points of access onto the highway.; An increase in access points to the highway increases the risk of collision and the access should be necessary and designed safely.; The proposal does not meet current design standards with no visibility splays indicated and the gate should be set back 6m from the highway; The application should be refused on the grounds that is does not provide safe and convenient access as required by GP2 (h) and that it will have an unacceptable impact on traffic flows and safety in contravention of GP2(i).
