Dear Sir
Planning Application 16/00309/A, Clypse Cottages, Clypse Moar, Onchan, IM4 5BG
I must again object to this development - Approval in Principle for two building plots and two field access gates.
The gift of 3 meters of land to the DOI is a gimmick. Any road widening would only be of benefit to the development, creating much needed parking spaces. Motorists using this very busy road have already made their own arrangements and have made at least 3 passing places in the road visible from the cottages. Mr Langton, who did a previous appeal, made much of 2 parking areas per dwelling. I think this is wrong. The Onchan Local Plan clearly states O/RES/P/26 4.65 Car Parking Standards of at least 3 spaces per dwelling, garage may be included.
Do a proper site visit, look to the North West, South Barrule can be seen. Kate's Cottage, Creg-ny-baa hotel and the back road area. To the front are broken fields which run down to a row of trees. This is a panorama of beauty. Two 4 bedroomed mansions in the corner of the field would block this wonderful view for the dozens of people who use this road every day.
The Manx economy is almost static. The population is on the decline. The future prosperity of the Isle of Man lies in the past. Tourism. To attract people we must keep our scenic values, our open spaces. They see enough ugly houses at home!
Think of our future, forget any short-term gain from development and return the field to the plough.
My generation went to war to protect our beautiful island. Now it is your turn.
Yours faithfully

T R Quayle
