General Policy 6
GP6 permits external advertisements in towns and villages if they are of high standard of design and materials, relate well to the building/site, are in keeping without detracting from the area, and do not cause highway safety hazards. The officer assessed the 19 proposed signs and found they meet all criteria: appropriate types/sizes for the supermarket, replacing some existing signs, and no safety issues. This tipped the balance in favour of approval.
General Policy 7
GP7 generally does not permit advertisements on sites/buildings other than those they relate to. The officer confirmed all signs relate directly to the Co-operative supermarket building, satisfying the policy without issue.
Time limit
The development hereby approved shall be begun before the expiration of four years from the date of this decision notice. Reason: To comply with article 14 of the Town and Country Planning (Development Procedure) (No2) Order 2013 and to avoid the accumulation of unimplemented planning approvals.
Ramsey Town Commissioners have no objection to the proposed erection of illuminated and non-illuminated signage at 3, Christian Street, Ramsey.
