I write with reference to the above planning applications.
Douglas Borough Council has had concerns for some time regarding the appearance of the building which is the subject of these applications.
In addition to the building being a Registered Building it occupies a site in a prominent location close to a busy road junction.
The Council has made the owner of the building aware of its concerns and has sought to have the external appearance of the building, and the general condition of the external space surrounding the building improved.
It would appear that if the proposals contained within the applications are approved and carried out, then this would bring about a much needed improvement in the appearance of the building.
Given the above the Council would support this application, and if approved the Council will press the owner to carry out the necessary improvements without delay.
