Dear Sir/Madam,
Re: Application 16/01172/8 Foraging Vintners
Backwater Road, Port Erin, IMA 6JA.
I am writing with reference to the above planning application and would make the following comments.
With regard to the windows/door alterations and the provision of an outside seating area, this would be a welcome improvement and enhance the look of that area.
However, with regard to the intended eight roof-mounted wind turbines, I would strongly oppose this for the following reasons:
a) however supposedly "low noise" the turbines might be, having eight there would be noisy; and for the many people who frequent the harbour area (walkers, diving club, sailing school, fishermen etc) it would be an unwelcome intrusion in the peace and quiet, and tranquil feel - there is nothing better than sitting out the harbour watching the world go by.
b) each year swallows inhibit nearby, as do other wildlife, and this would be a deterrent for them.
c) the visual impact, I feel, is the worst aspect - the turbines would be visible from most points in Port Erin and, in my view, cannot be regarded as an attractive feature. All in all, I would object to the erection of any turbines in a prominent position.
No acknowledgement is required of this letter - just wished to make my views known.
Yours faithfully,
S. Christian
