Refusal Decision Notice
Town and Country Planning Act 1999
Town and Country (Development Procedure) Order 2005
Kelly Lewthwaite Building Design 23 Market Street Douglas IM1 2PA
In pursuance of powers granted under the above Act and Order the Department of Infrastructure does hereby REFUSE the following application made on behalf of:
Name: Mr Steve Turner Proposal: Erection of detached garage with store over at: Carisbrooke Clenagh Road Sulby Isle of Man IM7 3AD
which was considered on 14th November 2011, for the reasons set out below. Date of Issue: 15th November 2011 Murray House Mount Havelock Douglas
Mrs P Faragher Deputy Secretary to the Planning Committee
Reason(S) For Refusal:
- The proposed development is likely to result in a deficiency in usable and convenient parking space for the dwelling and a garage whose appearance is not sympathetic to the character of the main dwelling or the streetscene in general due to its height, proportions and proximity to the highway. There is no objection to the principle of the provision of garaging or ancillary storage, but this should be provided in a building which is sympathetic to the character of the area and where it will not adversely affect the arrangements for adequate parking to be provided on site.
This decision was made by the Development Control Manager in accordance with the authority delegated to her under Article 3(13) of the Town and Country (Development Procedure) Order 2005.
