The proposal is modest in scale and located on a part of the building not readily visible to the public, minimising any impact on the building's setting.
General Policy 2
Requires development to respect site/surroundings in siting, scale, design; not adversely affect landscape/townscape character or local amenity. Officer assessed the modest rear courtyard works as compliant due to replication of existing Georgian features and lack of public visibility.
Environment Policy 32
Prohibits extensions/alterations detrimentally affecting a Registered Building's special character. Alterations justified as not detrimental, supported by Conservation Officer; one opening reverses prior infilling.
Environment Policy 34
Prefers traditional materials for pre-1920 buildings. Timber doors with matching paint and glazing profiles satisfy this; detailed drawings required by condition.
Time limit
The development hereby permitted shall commence before the expiration of four years from the date of this notice.

This approval relates to the creation of two doorways from existing windows on the rear north-facing side elevation, shown in drawing no. SM12/272/1, received on 2 February 2012.

Approved Unanimous
Recommend approval has no adverse traffic management, parking or road safety implications
