Hi, unfortunately we are unable to attend the rearranged meeting.
As immediate neighbours we would like to state that Christine's business has had no impact on our day to day life. There has been no problem with noise and we have had no issues with cars parking in the street, even though Clay Head Close has very limited parking.
We also are aware that a number of Christine's clients are in fact local residents, including my wife, so don't actually drive to here anyway.
In these modern times where fitness and wellbeing is being constantly promoted, we have found it strange that there seems to have been a concerted effort to block Christine's business from one or two local residents and from local officials.
We are aware that a number of residents were canvassed to oppose the plans without, to our best knowledge, much success. Surprisingly though, we were never approached.

For the attention of Mr Andrew Johnstone Planning Appeals
22nd April, 2021
Dear Mr Johnstone
Appeal regarding Planning Application - Stoneycroft, Clay Head Close, Baldrine, IM4 6DW Planning Ref Number 20/00770C
At the beginning of August 2020 we received an anonymous letter stating that an application to the Planning Authority for a “commercial gym” had been submitted for the above address. It pointed out that this could substantially increase traffic along Clay Head Road.
On 4th August we submitted a letter to Garff Commissioners and the Planning and Building Control Directorate to object to this planning application as we were concerned that a “commercial gym” would increase traffic along the road which is a single track lane.
Afterwards, we learned from Christine Barker that the application referred to is for a modest sized wooden summerhouse, and that the activity would be limited to one-to-one personal training, of five sessions per day. Because of this more accurate information, we feel that the increase in traffic along Clay Head Road would be minimal, and so we withdrew our objection on 7th August, 2020. Shortly after that we received another anonymous letter which asserted that we were in error to withdraw our objection. This seemed to us to be bordering on domineering and controlling.
A modest sized wooden summerhouse is a far cry from what is conjured up in one’s mind regarding a “commercial gym”. We regret not investigating this more fully at the time, as if we had we would never have objected in the first place.
Yours sincerely
Chris and Linda Carter
