Multiple residents of St Ninians Court and Clare Barber MHK object to the application due to concerns over increased traffic, noise, pollution, road safety, and impacts on elderly residents in a quiet retirement complex; Douglas Borough Council requests the application be put on hold for amendments.
Key concern: road safety risks for elderly residents in retirement complex due to increased traffic on narrow lane
Douglas Corporation
ObjectionThe Council resolved to contact the applicant and request that the application be withdrawn by the applicant to allow for further discussions to take place and more acceptable amendments to be made to the application.; I'm not sure if the applicant has yet withdrawn the application but a further meeting is taking place today between the Council and the applicant which if not already should result in the application being withdrawn.; I would kindly ask if this application can be put on hold to allow for these discussions to take place and the necessary improvements to be made.
Clare Barber MHK
ObjectionThe development at St Ninian’s Court was created to provide a safe environment for retirees, yet is now being proposed as a permanent bypass to be used at times of the heaviest vehicular traffic.; Residents will not be able to sit comfortably in their own gardens as the fumes from vehicles idling in a queue to access Noble’s Park will abutt their properties.; Could the route not cut through the Noble’s Park perimeter wall just past the St Ninian’s Court complex and run along the perimeter rejoining as per the proposed plans?
Resident of 29 St Ninians Court
ObjectionAccess roads is already narrow and not safe. Pre-langer vehicles such as motor homes, warcops, lorries.; These problems are mainly occupied by older residents and this will end the peace and quiet we have come to expect and our privacy.; Really don't understand the need for a road through the park at all when there are already two perfectly adequate main roads access.
Resident of 2 St Ninians Court
ObjectionIt is the Demise of our quiet older folks complex, that we have invested in, as our last home.; It compromises the security of the complex, esp for those living on the ground floor.; Matter of speed bumps relevant too, more so now than before.
Resident of 28 St Ninians Court
ObjectionMany residents of our complex are over 75, and all are over the age of 55, busy roads are worrying to cross for those in their prime, but for those in a retirement complex to have to cross a very busy lane of traffic at multiple and unspecified periods throughout the year is an inherent risk.; We hope you will give our concerns the fullest of consideration, and reject this application.; When Nobles Park was gifted to people of Douglas have the Documento bien cheated for this on the H.B.N. Investies.

Resident of 33 St Ninians Court
ObjectionThe hugely increased vehicle and people traffic up the access road to the St Ninian's Court complex, and through the church carpark, would cause unacceptable noise and pollution levels for the residents.; Residents understand that they have purchased their homes adjacent to Nobles Park and that the Park does attract various events (TT, etc) during the year. I am not objecting to the various changes in the Park itself. However, when we purchased our properties, we did not sign up for the volume of traffic that will be directed around the complex.
