Highways Comments:
The proposal is acceptable in highway terms with no significant road safety issues arising. The signage is unlikely
to cause a distraction. The proposed lighting of the fascia sign is to be achieved by downlighting. It is not
expected to exceed brightness levels, but should conform to lighting standards. Accordingly, Highway Services
do not oppose this proposal subject to the following condition for any lit signs:
Luminance Level : At no time shall the Luminance level of the signs exceed the thresholds contained within the
Institute of Lighting Professionals (ILP) guidance document PLG05 - The Brightness of Illuminated
Advertisements 2015 (or any subsequent amendment/replacement to this guidance). Reason: In the interests
of visual amenity and highway safety.
