General Policy 2
Requires development in accordance with land-use zoning and other policies, respecting site and surroundings in terms of siting, layout, scale, form, design, landscaping; not adversely affecting townscape character or locality amenity. The officer assessed the retrospective ramp, handrail, bin store, and fence restoration as compliant, given their modest scale and preservation of the church's appearance in the Conservation Area.
Environment Policy 35
Permits only development within Conservation Areas that preserves or enhances character/appearance and protects special features from inappropriate development. The main concern was Conservation Area impact; the ramp was deemed modest with no detrimental visual effect, fence restoration preserves original wall/railings appearance, and small modern features (handrail, bin store) are removable and do not harm overall character.
Time limit
The development hereby approved shall be begun before the expiration of four years from the date of this decision notice. Reason: To comply with Article 26 of the Town and Country Planning (Development Procedure) Order 2019 and to avoid the accumulation of unimplemented planning approvals.
