Hallo I enclose the objection by the Owner / residents of 25 Marathon Avenue to the above Planning Application. redacted
C/O 25 Marathon Avenue Douglas Isle of Man
Secretary to the Planning Committee Planning and Building Control Division DEFA Murray House, Mount Havelock, Douglas
Town & Country Planning Act 1999 P/A 20/00092 14 Marathon Avenue Douglas On behalf of the Owner redacted of No 25 Marathon Avenue (directly opposite No 14 and within 20 metres of the proposed development) I wish to submit their objection to Planning Application No 20/00092.
Their objection is based on the loss of an on-street parking space for the widening of the drive to No 14 in a residential avenue already congested with parked vehicles.
This objection is based on the statement at paragraph 6.3.3 of your Department's "Residential Design Guidance ( March 2019 ) document, and in particular "Proposals (for the creation of an off street parking space ) which do not result in a net BENEFIT are unlikely to be supported " . ( my capitals ).
The majority of the residential properties in Marathon Avenue, and in particular No 23 - 31 , do not have off street parking, and parking in this area particularly in the evenings/weekends is frequently not immediately available.
I am assisting the Owner/residents of No 25 with this objection having myself formerly been a resident of Marathon Avenue (since 1949), a frequent visitor (since 1969), as well as having been professionally involved with parking issues in this area from 1991 to 2010 and having recent personal experience of the lack of available parking adjacent to the property No 25 Marathon Avenue.
I am copying this objection directly to Development Control at the Department of Infrastructure for their information. redacted Yours faithfully
