The Site
The application site is the curtilage of Lights of Man, Unit 12, Spring Valley Industrial Estate, Braddan. When entering Spring Valley Industrial Estate from Cool Road, Agrimark is on the left, a few hundred yards further along, the application site is on the right.
The Proposal

Development Plan Policies
The application site is in an area zoned as "Predominantly Industrial" identified on the Braddan Local Plan 1991. It is appropriate to consider General Policy 2 of the Isle of Man Strategic Plan (20th June 2007).
Consultations
Braddan Commissioners have not commented
Highways Division do not oppose as it has no adverse traffic management, parking or road safety implications.
Assessment
General Policy 2 requires that proposed developments do not adversely affect the character of the surrounding landscape or townscape.
The proposed alterations to the frontage which includes the installation of four patio style sliding doors would have a neutral affect on the character and appearance of the building in the street scene.
It is judged that the proposed development would not have a harmful impact on the visual amenities of the area.
For the above reasons the application is considered to be acceptable and is recommended for approval.
Party Status
The local authority, Braddan Commissioners is, by virtue of the Town and Country Planning (Development Procedure) Order 2005, paragraph 6 (5) (c) and (d), considered an "interested person" and as such should be afforded party status.
The Department of Transport Highways and Traffic Division is now part of the Department of Infrastructure of which the planning authority is part. As such, the Highways and Traffic Division cannot be afforded party status in this instance.
