Description: Creation of additional 14 parking spaces with associated landscaping - forming amendments to application 17/01101/B (retrospective)
Highways Comments: The additional information states that a number of owners of the units have installed mezzanine after they have purchased the properties resulting in an increase in traffic generation and parking demand.
The fact that we do not have a clear idea of what the increase in parking requirement is, it is important that the business park can function without indiscriminate parking causing obstructions to service / delivery vehicles and emergency vehicles.
Given the fact that the parking spaces are already constructed, it is difficult to justify any enforcement action against a development that is trying to accommodate the parking demands of the different units.
Whilst this is not the normal process for determining an application, it is considered on balance that 14 additional car parking spaces would not create any significant highways related issues that could be substantiated as a reason for refusal at an appeal.
