New Lodge and Bee Shed Proposal
The Proposed New Lodge House and setting.
The existing Lodge is to be replicated to the North East of the new Entrance to give the frontage symmetry and further Holiday two bedroomed Accommodation.
The front field which forms the area for this new proposed work has not been farmed for a considerable length of time and is now extensively planted with trees. It is intended that the area from the entrance where the gatehouses are indicated up to the existing lake and formal gardens will be covered with trees and grass. This will create a formal classical 'picturesque' aspect to the setting and has been designed by renowned Landscape architect; Cowley White.
The formal gardens will be the subject of a future planning application which will incorporate Colonnades and a new elevation treatment to the house. This is however not part of this application.
The front fields to Old Castletown Road were included in the call for sites in the Eastern Plan but have not been included in the designation.
This is an area where many houses have been designated as housing in parkland and whilst this site is not within any specific designation for development it is part of the Hampton Court Estate and is therefore a unique site and should be dealt with in a unique way.
The vision that the applicant has is unique on the Island and will create a fabulous setting as both a house and holiday accommodation.
The unique setting and what is hoped will be a fabulous venue for other activities in the future, will set this apart from other holiday accommodation on the Island and when complete will be a destination in its own right.
The proposed Bee Hives and Shed
The agricultural shed is to process and maintain the area at the rear of the Estate for Honey production. The machinery for general maintenance such as tractors and other agricultural equipment will also be housed here.
The space around the house is taken up with vehicles and is a domestic space associated with the house and the working elements of the Estate should be kept separate.
It is to be timber clad with a zinc or metal roof and will be agricultural in appearance. There will also be significant landscaping in this vicinity to add to the trees and landscaping already planted recently with the help and advice from DEFA.
