A full height extension of approximately 3.5 m long to the northern elevation of the Peel Lifeboat Station is proposed, to accommodate the new Shannon Class of all-weather lifeboat being introduced to increase the RNLI's search and rescue capacity on the island. This will require widening of the existing launching ramp entrance and reconstruction of a section of harbour wall to allow space for the launching equipment, with the lifeboat, to clear a rock outcrop below the castle walls during launch and recovery of the lifeboat. The addition of a slideway to the launching ramp opposite the boat house is also required to reduce the potential for damage to the base of the new lifeboat. Dear Sirs
RE: Peel Lifeboat Station Alterations
Attached herewith is the Certificate of Land Ownership in relation to our planning application on the above matter.
We have included both statements A and B in the certificate for the following reasons:
In relation to statement A we are the leaseholder of the current station to which the planning application relates; and
In relation to Statement B we are currently agreeing a slightly larger footprint for our lease of the Lifeboat Station but technically the current owner of that small additional parcel of land is the Department of Infrastructure, Isle of Man Government (DOI). Additionally, we are only licensee of the slipway that we are seeking to adapt and, therefore, ultimate ownership is with the DOI.
Hopefully this letter suffices to clarify the completion of the certificate but if you have any queries please feel free to contact me.
Yours sincerely,
Duncan Macpherson
