The proposed signs would all be permanent, not
illuminated and positioned on the building frontage. They
should not create a distraction to motorists on the
adjacent public highway and therefore no new highway
issues should arise from the proposed signage.
The application proposes a street café on the public
highway with tables, chairs and removable steel posts
with rails and banners. The street café should not form
part of this planning application for signage and has
therefore not been assessed or agreed by Highway
Services. Pavement cafés are licenced by the local
authority (Douglas Borough Council) and are subject to a
separate application process, details of which are
provided in the attached guidelines which can be sent to
the applicant for information.
