With reference to the planning application from Donna Grose (Precious Paws) to run a dog daycare facility at Unit 6A, Gladstone Park, Ramsey I would like to be considered an interested party as I have the adjacent unit (5a). I have a number of points that I would like to raise:
Further to Ms Grose's email of 13th March, there are units in the process of being built opposite the unit she is applying for permission to use. It is my understanding that these are already spoken for with a variety of proposed uses, her email states that there are currently no units opposite.
Ms Grose is proposing to walk the dogs in her care during the morning and afternoons. As it would be neither safe nor practicable to walk the 10 dogs she hopes to have at one time that would potentially leave the remainder unsupervised. Whilst I appreciate that she plans to implement a no barking policy that would be difficult to enforce if she is not there and it would also lead to welfare concerns about the dogs left. I appreciate that by their nature dogs will bark but many of my clients bring dogs with behavioural issues for rehabilitation and training so no longer being able to offer a quiet, calm environment would be an added difficulty to my own work.
The planning application gives a description of the proposed development as 'Dog day care and training centre' in one section but states the proposed use as just 'dog daycare' in another, as the latter would be in direct conflict with my own business clarification would be appreciated.
I have not been able to find the yellow Planning Notification on or around Gladstone Park as yet. The application was brought to my attention by a neighbour and the information accessed on line.
For your further information I have been running Busy Bee Dog Training for ten years with over 25 years experience in dog behaviour and training. I am also trainer and behavioural advisor to the Manx SPCA.
