Mount Havelock, DOUGLAS IM1 2SF S.P.M.C. & E. Glebe Cottage, Maughold, (via Ramsey) IM7 Phone & fax 815748 Email 20th April 2001 Dear Mr. Quine, 01/00021: PVC windows, 3, Victoria Terrace, Glen Road, Laxey DEVELOPMENT IN A CONSERVATION AREA
It seems that the generality of windows in this terrace are tall, narrow casements and, if not the very originals, these have obviously been the standard for a very long time. See photo below. (No 3 is the cream coloured one with the creeper).
The adjoining cottage to the left has had its casements most unfortunately replaced with picture windows with night-lights above and we would certainly oppose such an exercise at No. 3
At No.3 it seems best to follow the majority style and therefore, despite being within a Conservation Area, we will not object to replacement with new windows in casement form providing these mirror the style and detail of those that exist in this and the bulk of the properties in the block.
To this extent, therefore, the Society will not oppose the Application. Yours sincerely, for and on behalf of the S.P.M.C.&E. {{image:124299}} Ian K. Bleasdale MRICS, Dip TP, Dip LI.
