General Policy 6

Requires advertisements in towns and villages to be of high standard of design and materials relating well to the building and site, in keeping with and not detracting from the surrounding area, and not causing highway safety hazards. The officer assessed the proposal as meeting these tests due to its high design standard, good relation to the building, compatibility with surroundings, and lack of highway concerns.

General Policy 7

Prohibits advertisements on sites or buildings other than those to which they relate. The signage relates directly to the workshop building on site, so compliant.

Environment Policy 37

Permits advertisements in Conservation Areas only if they preserve or enhance the area, use appropriate style and traditional materials excluding glossy/reflective or illuminated box signs. The non-illuminated signage was found appropriate to the character, using suitable materials, preserving the area without harm to notable features.
