The Commissioners wish to submit their views on the following planning applications:
17/00126/B Mrs P Birnie Dreem Ard Ballanard Road Douglas - Triple garage with store/hobbies room over - Kerrowdhoo Glen Duff Lezayre - Approved 4-1 majority. Although the Commissioners have approved this application they would like to see a condition stating that the room above the garage should not be used for accommodation.
17/00132/B DEFA Thie Slieau Whallian Foxdale Road St Johns - Removal of an existing storage coop, installation of a timber retaining wall, surfacing works, installation of a steel container and reinstatement of an existing turning area - Approved Unanimous.
17/00154/B Mr and Mrs Graham Harbour Springs Main Road Sulby - Alterations and additions to property. Approved Unanimous. Although the Commissioners have approved this application, they would like to raise the following point. The applicant indicates on the application that there is parking currently for 2 vehicles with the proposed parking remaining at 2 vehicles. Currently on the road in this area particularly at the junction of Kella Road/Kella Close, we have parking issues. We understand that Mr Graham does not use the spaces indicated on the plan and parks his vehicle/vehicles on Kella Road.
17/00164/B Kelproperties Limited 8 St George's Street Douglas - Demolition of one existing unit and construction of four units for general industrial and storage use with associated facilities and parking - Gob E Volley Depot Main Road Sulby. Approved Unanimous. Although the Commissioners have approved this application they do have concerns regarding the egress from the site. The application includes information to show traffic volumes and speeds. It is the Commissioners opinion that this survey is not a true reflection of the volume of traffic on this road. Many companies close down over the Christmas period, returning to work on or around the 3rd January 2017. They also suggest that the units are not used as retail outlets.
