DEFA Environmental Health raised concerns about potential smoke nuisance from the low-level flue discharge and recommended extending it above ridge height; Highways Services had no interest; Ramsey Town Commissioners had no objection.
Key concern: risk of smoke nuisance to neighbouring properties due to low-level flue discharge
DEFA Environmental Health
ObjectionThere is a clear risk that, in certain wind conditions, the products of combustion from the solid fuel appliance will be blown into the first story windows of the dwelling and if the soffits are ventilated then there is also a risk that products of combustion could be drawn into the roof space.; To reduce the risk of a smoke nuisance occurring we would always recommend that flues discharge at least above the ridge height of the main dwelling. Thought should be given to repositioning the stove within the premises to enable this as it seems impracticable to extend the flue to such a height in it proposed location.
