Dear Sir/ Madam,

I am writing in relation to Application Number 18/00140 B

- Variation of condition one of PA 13/91514/B, Construction of a Lychgate along Derby Road
- I would like interested Party status as my property is overlooking the proposed development.
- My Address is 10 Mona Street Peel, Im5 1HJ directly adjacent to the cathedral.

My letter is one of concern. The planning proposal I can see in principal will be of benefit for the area, but my concern is the current placement of the hull and it's impact at the present time on the surrounding area.

At the present time there is a very large ships hull in poor condition just sitting in the Cathedral grounds. It is an eyesore and in my opinion potentially dangerous. The hull itself smells of diesel and is generally in its current form and position unsightly. It has fencing around it and could easily be accessed. It is in poor condition and in my opinion not acceptable that the cathedral car park is being used as a holding area. Picture attached

My concern is that the planning will be extended by 4 years, the funding will not be available for the foreseeable future and the wreck(which is what it is and looks like), which I have to look at every day ;will just sit there, it really is not acceptable. This placement of the hull I feel easily falls into the category of overshadowing/loss of outlook. It's placement is also to the detriment of Peel.

I would ideally like to see the wreck moved until such time as the development takes place in earnest. The cathedral ground have been developed over a number of years piecemeal and it seems to be a case of material being gathered and being used as and when funds exist, prudent some might say but in the instance of the hull it is having a huge impact on the area, it really is unsightly. A dubitable promise of development soon is not enough and it should be moved until such time it is required.

I was also under the impression that the shelter was to be constructed using bespoke materials rather than a shelter to match the hull which is what now appears to be planned. I would like to see this closely monitored to make sure what is proposed in the application matches the plans rather than an improvisation of an the existing structure (the hull) to make something reasonably close in appearance. It is a busy and important area in Peel and need to be finished to a very high standard.

In summary I would like to see the hull moved until such time that the actual construction takes place. An accurate timeframe needs to be in place in my opinion rather than it will happen soon, as a consequence delaying the removal and in effect allowing it to stay indefinitely.

I also have issue with the road being stepped out infront of the shelter but the plans imply this is a highways/regeneration issue. I have noted it incase it has any relevance to these plans as it is unnecessary and results in further loss of parking spaces in Peel
