# APL Planning Statement

## Planning Statement

Port Erin Commissioners is applying for change of use in order to allow the storage and distribution for foodbank from its office on Bridson Street, Port Erin.

Port Erin Commissioners office has operated as a food collection point since the Isle of Man Foodbank (Southern Hub) was established.

With the impending sale of Port Erin Methodist Church, Isle of Man Foodbank has been seeking a new base to support the South of the Island.

With over 100 families currently receiving support from Isle of Man Foodbank, Port Erin Commissioners wishes to support this by better utilising some of its less used office space.

The current archive storage materials are currently being collated with the majority of this being transferred to the Public Records Office. Other items of interest will also be donated to Rushen Heritage Trust. All remaining items will be relocated to the main office for secure storage.

Isle of Man Foodbank will receive fewer visits than Port Erin Commissioners Office experiences in its normal day to day operations with our members of office staff, outside workers, library staff, general public and tenants visiting the office.

The Isle of Man Foodbank volunteer attendances align with the Commissioners' Office opening hours apart from Saturday, however, this could be amended if required. See Foodbank manning profile overleaf for details.

The Isle of Man Foodbank will undertake some reviews for those needing to access the Foodbank service, which are undertaken every 6 weeks. Port Erin Commissioners already allows third sector organisations, such as Housing Matters & Salvation Army to make use of its Boardroom for any "South" meetings, which would be extended to Isle of Man Foodbank.
