I would note, from recent planning conditions on “new builds” in a traditional street scene, that there appears to be a requirement to construct fake or pretend chimneys to match existing properties, but that does not apply here if the chimney is not at the gable ends. When I was on leave a planning application came into the office, details are: PA15/00173/B - Ms M V Frankwick, for the removal of a chimney stack at Melrose, Four Roads, Port St Mary. The only details we have on this is a couple of photographs showing the stack at the rear of the property with an arrow drawn on pointing at it!
