To Whom it may Concern:

Regarding Planning Application 15/00025/C - Peel Football Club, Douglas Road, Peel, Isle of Man

I live along the road towards Peel in relation to the above planning application. In principle, I have no objections to the application however I do have concerns regarding traffic safety.

I would like measures to be taken to reduce the likelihood of a traffic / pedestrian accident. The application does make reference to a barrier zone on the pitch as a courtesy gesture for golfers but consideration for other activities that take place within the vicinity appear to have been ignored.

The reasons for my concerns are as follows:

- The access to the Football Grounds is narrow and directly opposite the entrance to QE11 School. Although this year, the school is not open to all pupils for the two weeks of TT, this will not be the case over the three year period of the camp site application. My understanding is that exams also take place at this time so there will be some pupils still in attendance at various times. This particular area gets very busy at the start and finish of school and is aggravated by cars parking on the A1 (Douglas Road / Tynwald Road), alongside the football ground perimeter wall. To add motorcycle and / or camper van traffic entering and exiting an obscured gateway without some control measures in place could be a danger.

- Living closer to Peel, we know well, that despite a 30mph zone (20mph at certain times within the school locality), some traffic leaving Peel increases its speed in readiness for the 'open' road and likewise coming into Peel, some traffic is not always within the limit by the time it reaches the school. This could possibly add further danger to an obscured entrance.

- Finally, the application states it will provide catering vans for the campers. Pupils from QE11 already assert their independence by 'lunching' at various establishments around Peel and I am sure any catering facilities available at the football club will also be utilised. Pupils crossing the road at this point will be another cause of concern for their safety.

The key consideration should be that residents, pupils, tourists and traffic alike should have any risks kept to a minimum.

Thank you
