# Agriculture Lands Planning Statement

## Nessy

A few words below regarding your query

The current traditional playground is aging and in desperate need of replacement. It remains the only playground facility in upper Laxey Village and therefore an important community recreational asset.

Its current position in the Glen is prone to flooding which, in recent years, has forced the permanent removal of a number of items leaving only a few play stations including: swings and slide, installed in the 1980s and a couple of springer items.

It is intended to relocate the playground to the site of the old Victorian boating lake on the opposite side of the river, away from the flood zone (subject to planning approval).

The Department wants the proposed playground upgrade to deliver imaginative playscapes to befit the location and maximise play value, whilst giving cognizance to Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) compliance and meeting the latest playground safety standards

Good Afternoon,

Further to your query's on the above application, I am currently writing up my recommendation. I've looked in the information provided as part of the application and apologise if I've missed it but I cannot find anything that states what the request to move the play park is (I do have an assumption though) and also what is happening with the area where the old play park is.

Would it be possible to provide me with this information?</oliver.o'meara@gov.im></vanessa.porter@gov.im>

Many Thanks

Nessy
