Dear Marie,

My interest in these applications are on planning policy and I would appreciate my comments being brought to the attention of the planning committee or delegated person.

**08/01707/B Erection of a replacement dwelling, Ballabeg Farm St Judes Road ANDREAS**

Whilst it is accepted by the applicant that HP14 is not strictly adhered to with this application the justification given to make an exception appear reasonable. I am also aware of a previous decision to allow a larger dwelling in Braddan contrary to HP14 in slightly similar circumstances so I have no objection to this proposal.

**08/01736/A Approval in principle for the erection of two dwellings, Land Adjacent To Arbory Church Yard Main Road Ballabeg ARBORY**

I have no objection to the principle of the development but wonder whether the proposed layout will give satisfactory amenity to the proposed new dwellings and the existing Vicarage.

**08/01700/B Erection of a replacement dwelling (comprising amendments to PA 08/1034B), Phoenix Ballacorey Road BRIDE** I still have no objection. **08/01696/B Creation of temporary car park with associated access points, Vacant Site At Allan Bank Circular Road DOUGLAS**

Whilst I accept car park use has previously been permitted on this site it is my view that there should be a moratorium on the building/providing of car parks in towns in order to encourage the use of alternative methods of travel. If Dandara or any body else wish to provide carparks they should locate them at the edge of towns adjacent to bus/rail routes.

**08/01709/B Conversion of former shop into a residential unit, 55 Castlemona Avenue DOUGLAS**

This proposal appears to satisfy the empty property initiative and returns a vacant unit into use which is probably more appropriate than its current use.

**08/01706/B Conversion of former mill building to a dwelling, Glen Moar Mill Glen Helen Road Laurel Bank St Johns GERMAN**

The current use is considered commercial so does HP11 apply? Is the proposal covered by GP2 or GP3? If it is assumed GP3 applies then that links to HP11 from GP3 b and so we go round in circles. Whatever, the proposal appears to satisfy STP1 a and is probably a more appropriate use than a garage.

**08/01730/R Re-construction of stone barn, Field No 335039 Ballahutchin Mooar Farm Dalby PATRICK**

Notwithstanding the retrospective aspect of the application - given that in certain circumstances a double garage can be built without the need for planning permission - is the proposal likely to cause harm to the amenity of the area. From the photo's submitted it is unlikely to have a major adverse impact so I am no opposed even if the rebuilding of ruins (for dwellings - which is not proposed here) is not favoured.

Yours etc,

Andrew Jessopp BSc (Hons)
