In pursuance of powers granted under the above Act and Regulations the Department of Local Government and the Environment does hereby **REFUSE** the following application made on behalf of:

**Name:** Laxey Glen Mills Limited
**Proposal:** Erection of advertising signage on roadside grain silo
**at:** Laxey Glen Mills Mill Road Laxey Isle of Man IM4 7AU

which was considered on 4th September 2008, for the **reasons** set out below.

### Reasons For Refusal:

1. The proposed signage is unacceptable by reason that:
a) it would be overly prominent within the area and detrimental to the character of the Conservation Area;
b) it would be used to display advertisements unrelated to Laxey Mills; and
c) it would be illuminated in an inappropriate manner.

As such the proposal is contrary to the provisions of Policy L/CRB/PR/4 of the Laxey and Lonan Area Plan Order 2005 and General Policy 6, General Policy 7 and Environment Policy 37 of the Isle of Man Strategic Plan 2007.

This decision was made by the Director of Planning and Building Control in accordance with the authority delegated to him under Article 3(13) of the Town and Country (Development Procedure) Order 2005.

- The time for requesting an appeal has expired; or
- Any appeal has been determined;

Whichever is the later.

Any appeal against this decision must be in writing and must be received by this Department within 21 days of the date of this notice.
