The site is accessed via a narrow country road which has become a concreted road since the introduction of the sewage works. The road is also a public footpath. #### Planning Status The site lies within an area designated on the Isle of Man Planning Scheme (Development Plan) (Santon Head Amendment) Order 1995 as sewage disposal works within a wider area of an Area of High Landscape or Coastal Value and Scenic Significance. #### Planning History PA 99/0845 - construction of sewage treatment plant with associated buildings and works, (IRIS Scheme) - permitted. Works have also been undertaken to the building (mezzanine floor) and access to the site and around the office (PAs 05/0010 and 06/1724 respectively). Permission was recently granted to the erection of an additional cake silo (PA 07/0208). #### The Proposal Proposed now is the creation of a concrete foundation and base to place an oil and water separator unit on. This does not comply with the provisions of the Town and Country Planning (Permitted Development) Order 2005 so requires planning permission. It is, however a very insignificant part of the overall site and clearly essential for properly dealing with the discharge of water from the site. ### Assessment The feature is in the middle of the existing infrastructure and separated from the public footpath by the sludge treatment facilities.
