# Applicant Supporting Statement

Unfortunately I was unaware that I needed planning permission to erect a shed in my garden until after I started building it. However, on the 9th October I received a letter from Mr Olsen stating that I did indeed need permission to erect the shed. After reading The Town and Country Planning Act I am pleased to submit my application, but I would like to request that you take my statement into consideration on reaching a verdict.

I had always planned to put a shed at the side of my house, and indeed laid a concrete slab for the base in December 2004 whilst landscaping the front garden. Unfortunately my house only has a small back yard and due to the main road at the front, is the only outside area I feel safe for my children to play in. The shed is primarily to house the children’s outside toys and general gardening tools, which are currently rusting away in the back yard.

As I am sure you will understand my need for a garden shed is a necessity and there for I am more than willing to do anything to it which will enable me to keep it. I have planted a hedge around the perimeter wall of the property and plan to let it grow to roughly 600mm, as my house is already elevated from the main road this will obscure the shed from the front. At the side of the property the shed is only 500mm above the wall at its tallest point, perhaps if I painted the shed the same colour as the house this would enable the shed to blend in better from this angle.

If there are any other concerns or ideas you may have which will enable be to keep the shed then please don’t hesitate to contact me on 481067.

Yours Faithfully Darren O’Rourke
