Dear Ms. Callow,

SPMC&E VIEWS ON APPLICATIONS from WEEKLY LIST 2006/32-- List dated 17/08/06
SHEET 1 as sent Date of this response -18/08/06

It is not clear whether there is a long-term proposal to build a house on this plot or whether it is merely to be a garden extension? This needs clarification.
If it is the former, the Society will STRONGLY OBJECT as creating both a new house in the countryside and a continuance of ribbon development spreading outward from Ballaugh.

One can accept the need for signs here as the various vehicular accesses are confusing. If these new signs are to be allowed, then others, including the new (temporary?) one at the entrance to Eden Park and those on Saddle Road, etc., MUST be removed.

A rather prestigious house to be a farm worker's dwelling. See advice in English PPG7 including the following paragraph:

I 11. Agricultural dwellings should be of a size commensurate with the established functional requirement. Dwellings which are unusually large in relation to the agricultural needs of the unit, or unusually expensive to construct in relation to the income it can sustain in the long-term, should not normally be permitted. It is the requirements of the enterprise rather than of the owner or occupier which are relevant to determining the size of dwelling that is appropriate to a particular holding.

The Society remains un-convinced, despite the A-i-P, as to the genuineness of such cases.
