### Officer's Report

The application proposes the erection of signage at the Nissan Garage along Peel Road, Douglas. There is a previous application (05/00860/B) which was refused on the grounds that, "the proposed signage, and particular the "Pylon", the projection pole sign, and the flags (signs 5, 5a, 11 and 12) would be unnecessarily brash and intrusive.

This new application has amended the high pylon from 6 metres in high to 4.8 metres in height. This is a significant improvement and would seem to be acceptable as it is also a similar size to the existing pylon sign. The application has also removed the flag poles from this application as well;

however the projecting sign has been kept in the same position and dimensions of that of the previous application.

The Department of Transport and the Douglas Commissioners have both considered the application and neither have an objection. We have received no privately written representations objecting to the proposals.

Most of the proposed new signage would seem appropriate in their locations and will enhance the appearance of the garage. The projecting sign which one of the signs rejected on the previous application has not altered however due to the reduction of other signage and size of the high pylon sign, I do not believe the proposed signage now will have an intrusive feature upon the street scene of the area and therefore my recommendation is for an approval.
