### Officer's Report

The site represents a section of the corner of the site on which the 4 Wheel Drive and Van Hire business has been established on the corner of the Barley Field Industrial Estate and Cooil Road.

A sign has been erected in this position to alert the passing motorist to the presence of the business. The sign is intrusive and unnecessary as permission has been granted for signage for all of the businesses under 04/1415.

There are objections from the Commissioners and also from an independent party who finds the sign unacceptable. There is no need for the sign as the signage within the site is presently visible from the road. Also, those interested in such things will know where the premises are and they are unlikely to be seeking sales or business from passing trade.

## Recommendation

Recommended Decision : Refused

Date of Recommendation : 19.02.2005

### Conditions and Notes for Approval / Reasons and Notes for Refusal

C : Conditions for approval
N : Notes attached to conditions
R : Reasons for refusal
- : Notes attached to refusals

### N 2.

As this signage is already in place and permission has been refused, this must be removed within one month of the date of this notice as it becomes final.

R 1 . The signage is intrusive due to its size and position in what is intended to be a landscaped strip to soften the impact of the development within the Barley Field industrial estate. The sign is also unnecessary as permission has been granted for signage including reference to the users within the estate, under PA 04/1415, thus avoiding the proliferation of individual signage for each of the estate's occupants.
