# Planning Committee Written Review

Written Review 29th April 2005 R 1. The extension as proposed by reason of its size, massing and general appearance would detract from the traditional form and character of the existing dwelling and harm the recognised High Landscape Value and Scenic Significance of the area when viewed from both the public footpath adjacent to the site and also the Glen Rushen Road. R 2. The existing dwelling is subject to an agricultural occupancy condition, which was attached under PA 92/0820. Whilst the Planning Committee acknowledges that the additional living accommodation is to be used by a family member who is involved in the farming operations, the extension would provide a self contained residential unit as well as garaging and farm office accommodation. The Planning Committee judges that the development as proposed would increase the size of the existing dwelling to such an extent that the dwelling would be beyond the reasonable means of an agricultural worker or farmer. The Planning Committee was not satisfied that the size of the holding was sufficient to overcome this concern.
