# Planning Officer Report and Recommendation

## Planning Report And Recommendations [Table omitted in markdown export] ### Considerations [Table omitted in markdown export] ### Written Representations We have received 1 private representation for this application. ### Consultations [Table omitted in markdown export] [Table omitted in markdown export] ### Policy

### Officer's Report

The site represents the St. John's Football Club ground situated on the northern side of the Foxdale Road to the south of the new sheltered housing built by this Department.

Proposed here is the erection of signs. There are to be five signs all within the site: two of the signs are to be located on the south western side of the small junior pitch at the north eastern side of the site, two more are on each side of the clubhouse and the fifth is to be located alongside the road opposite an existing dwelling, "Firwood", from where we have an objection on visual grounds.

The free standing signs are to be 1.4m square and standing on legs 0.65m, giving a total height of 2.1m.

Planning permission was granted for alterations and extensions to the car park which included a new entrance opposite "Firwood" under PA 01/2311. This is why the new sign is directly opposite this property.

Defer for site visit.

The access has been formed and looks a little incomplete but there is no sign there at present. It is not terribly clear where exactly the sign would be erected. Defer for further information.

### Additional

Additional plans have identified the sign at the entrance. It is judged that the sign of this size would detract from the area and there is no need to have it as large as that shown. The applicants have indicated that the Football Foundation dictates the size of the signs because they are a main sponsor. To change it would increase the cost and it would have to be specially made. This does not however justify the erection of what would be an incongruous feature in the streetscene. This element should be refused.
