The site is to the north east of Peel Castle and to the west of the kiosk. ### The Proposal This application seeks approval for the installation of a set of pedestal mounted binoculars which would have a height of 1.47 m . The binoculars would have a length of 0.45 m and would be located so as to have a view out towards the rocks and the sea beyond. ### Planning Status The application site is located within an area identified as being Open Space by the Peel Local Plan. ### Planning History There have been no previous planning applications relating to this specific site. ## Representations Peel-Town Commissioners recommend that this application be approved. The Highways Division does not object to this application. ### Assessment The main issues to be assessed in the determination of this application is whether the proposed development would cause any adverse impacts upon the surrounding area. The proposal represents a relatively minor installation which would not be prominent within its setting. The design of the binoculars and stand is acceptable and the provision of such an appliance will add to the appeal of the area. It is concluded that the proposal is unobjectionable and that planning permission should therefore be granted. ### Recommendation Permit. ### Party Status It is considered that the following parties, who submitted comments, accord with the requirements of Planning Circular 1/06 and are therefore, afforded Interested Party Status: Peel Town Commissioners Accordingly the following parties are not granted Interested Party Status: The Department of Transport Highways and Traffic Division is now part of the Department of Infrastructure of which the planning authority is part.
