# NPSP5 Splash Park Specification

## NPSP5: Nobles Park Splash Park Specification

- The area we propose to install the splash park in, is the disused tennis court area as highlighted in the site/location plan (NPSP1)
- Site access points (one disabled) will be constructed where NPSP1 indicates that hedges will be removed.
- The direct wet area of the splash pad is not likely to exceed $300 \mathrm{~m} 2(15 \mathrm{mx} 20 \mathrm{~m})$ of the tennis courts which is $832 \mathrm{~m} 2(26 \times 32)$. The wet area will be in the centre of the courts and any water flow/spray will stay inside the footprint of the water play area. The outer areas will have seating/picnic area and outdoor lockers.
- Although we know the above information, we are going to tender for the final design. The design is to cater for a user age range of 1-12, with the wet area being split into 3 areas:
- 1-5 year olds
- Transitional area
- 8-12 year olds
- Our budget for this project is $£ 175,000$, and our focus is on providing a large quantity of interactive play equipment, i.e. where the water spray is of the height of the children.
- One of the companies we have made initial contact with, Water Play Solutions, have a brochure available that includes equipment specification, specifically dimensions and water flow. Following on from the bullet point above, the type of equipment we would most expect to see is:
- Fun-Brella - page 48 (H/W/L - 101/15/15 cm)
- Spray loop Tunnel - page 48 (H/W/L - 187/243/222 cm)
- Splash Blasters - page 48 (H/W/L - 98/31/24 cm)
- Sneaky Soakers - page 48 (H/W/L - 336/193/185 cm)
- Ground sprays - page 50-55

Their full brochure can be downloaded from their homepage www.waterplay.com. I have included with this application pages 48, 50-55, please see document referenced NPSP 6.

- From the bullet above, it follows on that the height of the jets are not likely to be greater than 3 m and the height of the equipment is not likely to be greater than 4 m .
- Below is an illustrated design which was done for Douglas Borough Council in 2010 and it is likely that the area will be very similar to this. I have compared the equipment used in the image below against the brochure provided by Water Play Solutions, and noted the name and dimensions of the tallest elements in the image as what equipment they perceive to be from the brochure.
