# Queens Pier Planning Statement

## Queens Pier Restoration Trust

### Planning Statement.

The Queens Pier Restoration Trust (on behalf of the Department of Infrastructure) proposes to upgrade the current gatehouse / entrance block abutting Stanley Mount East with new toilet facilities together with the repair and refurbishment of the first three bays of the Pier structure.

The main purpose and aims of the planning application are as follows:-

- Provision of two unisex w.c.'s with washing facilities to be set in the gatehouse/entrance block. (See Kinrade Associates drawing number SM17/416/1 dated March 2017.)
- Provision of a service duct beneath the existing Pier walkway. (See drawing number 005 dated 15th March 2017)
- A proposed increase in width of 5'0" (1.524metres) on either side of the existing Pier walkway along the length of the first bay only. (see drawings numbered 001 and 003 dated 5th September 2016)
- Removal of all defective metalwork and its' replacement with new steel beams where required. (See drawing number 040)
- Removal of all timber decking and replacing with new larch for stringers and longitudinal beams together with removal of Pier walkway planking and its' replacement with 5 \mathrm{~mm}$ wide Ekki hardwood. This product is marginally wider than the original planking but will provide the same material effect with a more cost effective solution.

As well as the drawings mentioned within each part of the proposed works, a general Arrangement Drawing number 002 dated 3rd September 2016 is also enclosed together with a Location Plan dated March 2017 indicating the area and extent of the proposed works edged in red together with the remaining section of Queens Pier in Department of Infrastructure ownership edged blue.

This Statement has been provided by the Secretary of the Queens Pier Restoration Trust.
