# Cherry Forge Design Statement

PARTINGTON, NIXON & KINRADE
ARCHITECTS & SURVEYORS
1401371
DESIGN STATEMENT – CHERRY FORGE, WILLOW LANE, TOSABY ROAD, EAIRY IM4 3HP
Ref: Application for amended scheme (previously approved under application 12/00007/B. December 2014
RECEIVED ON 02 DEC 2014 DEPARTMENT OF INFRASTRUCTURE
Reason for amended application:-
Improving on the previous application due to the need to provide more and improved accommodation for a growing family and a better internal design.
Design
The majority of available space to extend is to the west side at rear.
The rear is the vehicular access. This is the main access to the dwelling. The entrance, utility/cloak and kitchen is located in this area.
The family room is located on the western side of the existing dwelling, providing light and outlook for the room and to provide a reasonably sized room for the applicant’s family and pets.
The rooms in the existing building have limited size and thus suitable for bedrooms with the existing windows providing lights suitable for such use.
Visual Concept.
Concept is to retain the visual impression of the existing house from the highway and the East and provide additional accommodation in an extension that is set behind and lower than the existing building.

Visual Concept.
Concept is to retain the visual impression of the existing house from the highway and the East and provide additional accommodation in an extension that is set behind and lower than the existing building.

Retention of the character of the existing on its main visual elevation, i.e. the front to the road and retention of the roof line to this road. The east elevation to Willow lane remains unchanged.
Accommodation of the proposed extension to the existing, is achieved by setting the frontage behind that of the existing and by ridge being set lower than the ridge height of the existing. A double hip is not possible to the extension and the gable end design of the extension allows for a more modern design that does not clash with the retained style of the extension.
This allows for open ceilings to the lounge and kitchen, providing a light and open internal environment.
Finishes
The extension walls are to be rendered to match the existing and the whole painted to match. The existing roof is to be recovered with an approved blue/grey artificial slate.
