# Planning Application Statement

A number of improvements were proposed to Laburnum Cottage in application 12/000840/B and the first of these have been undertaken. The house is made up of two former stone cottages joined together plus a studio annexe, a former shop on the main road, added to the property more recently

The original proposals went some way in unifying the dwelling's appearance to the main road and address issues of access and internal daylighting levels

The former shopfront has been replaced, the new front door installd and the original front door blocked and turned into a window

Approval was granted to remove the second 'front door' to the timber-clad studio, the door was to be blocked and made good with matching timber cladding.

Approval is now sought to also replace the existing windows in this area, replacing the bay window with a simple window in the line of the wall. These revised proposals also see the timber cladding removed and replaced with an insulated render system. The appearance of this part of the building would then better match that of the main part of the house

Finally, to the rear of the property, approval was granted to replace the roof covering over a small lean-to section of roof adjacent to a larger flat roof area. The revised proposal sees the small area of pitched roof removed and replaced in line with the adjacent flat roof area. This part of the building is not visible from the highway
