### Officer's Report

#### The Site

The application site comprises the buildings and land associated with Marown School, Glen Darragh Road, Glen Vine.

#### Planning Status

The application site is designated as being within an area of buildings for civic, cultural or other special use under the Marown Local Plan.

#### Planning History

This is a resubmission of planning application 05/92326/B. Previously the application sought permission for the erection of ramps and steps for disabled access at Marown New School, Glen Darragh Road, Glen Vine.

## THE PROPOSAL

The proposed development comprises the construction ramps and steps to facilitate disabled access to the building. This application makes alterations to the previously approved planning application 05/92326/B. The changes comprise minor alterations to the approved ramps situated on the southwest side of the building.

REPRESENTATIONS

The following representations have been received:

- Marown Parish Commissioners have no objections to the application.
- The Disability Access officer has submitted notes regarding the design of the access ramps and steps.
- The Department of Transport Highways Division has made no comment on the application.
- The Manx Electricity Authority have made comments related to underground cables/overhead lines

There have been no privately written representations received.

## ASSESSMENT

It is considered that the impact of the alterations are minor and do not detract from the previously approved application. The impact of the proposed development is considered relatively modest, to be without detrimental impact and to actually represent an improvement to the building. Accordingly, it is recommended that the planning application be approved.

RECOMMENDATION

I consider the overall level of development contained within the proposal to be relatively modest and in keeping with the existing buildings. I am satisfied that the proposal does not significantly affect public or private amenity.

It is recommended that the planning application be approved.

## PARTY STATUS

It is considered that Marown Parish Commissioners the Disability Access officer meet the criteria of Government Circular 1/06 and should be afforded interested party status.
