Dear Ms. Callow,

SPMC&E VIEWS ON APPLICATIONS from WEEKLY LIST 2006/50--
SHEET 1 as sent
List dated 21/12/06
Date of this response 21/12/06

The submitted plan shows c.30 acres but the application refers to 700, so where is the rest?
Even with 700 acres we find it difficult to believe that 6 full-time workers are justified. The farm surrounding our house must be nearly this big but is largely run by one person with only occasional help with lambing or harvest. Our Grandson works on a holding of c.1000 acres in Cheshire and there are only 4 workers. (2 of them Polish)
The only good thing about this proposed new dwelling in the countryside is that it is grouped on the edge of a small ‘settlement’ though at the moment there is no Policy supporting this.
The Society OBJECTS as not being satisfied as to the full-time agricultural need for an additional dwelling when there are 3 dwellings already belonging to the holding.

The case for this is entirely based on the draft Braddan Local Plan which is not adopted and now seems unlikely to be. The Society therefore OBJECTS to an unwarranted new house in the countryside.

The A-i-P quoted relates to only two units whilst the details relate to four. We suggest that the application is therefore INVALID.

There is some connection, we suspect, with 06/1846, the outcome of which we are unaware.
The application and plans suggest this is really a Change of Use proposal, to convert this building into an ancillary dwelling from a commercial kitchen? If this is an alternative to the new dwelling proposed in 06/1846, we would welcome it.
