### Officer's Report

The property is an existing one sitting on the lower side of Falkland Drive, on the western side. The property is one of a pair of houses separating from the longer terrace of dwellings to the north, by a lane.

Proposed here is the removal of an existing aluminium modern door and surround and its replacement with a new plastic one. The general style of the proposed replacement is appropriate, although it would be better in timber, but the door is solid but for curved head glazed section and two rectangles below.

The Advisory Council have advised on a better approach. Defer for further consultation with the applicant on this.

I visited the site today and paid particular attention to the doors in the remainder of the roadway and saw that there is a variety including solid four panelled doors, half glazed with coloured, patterned glass and some modern doors.

The applicant came into the office today (16/07/04) and explained that the door shown in the drawings submitted is not the type which she wishes to install and gave me a copy of the door she would like (Taft One). This is more like the half glazed windows I saw elsewhere in Falkland Drive. I have sent a copy to the Commissioners and AdCo. This seems acceptable to me.
