# Planning Officer Memo Barriers

## Department Of Local Government And The Environment ### Memorandum To: Director of Planning and Building Control From: Mrs Fiona Mullen, Planning Officer Ref: PA04/00731/B - Highway Improvement scheme including creation of mini roundabout at Junction at Braddan Church between Peel Road and Saddle Road, Braddan, Douglas Date: May 2006 The above application was approved on 30th June 2004 with Condition No. 6 of that approval requiring that details of the barriers/railings on the southern side of the site around Braddan Bridge, be submitted for approval by the Planning Committee. Such details have now been submitted which indicate a 3 rail galvanised steel vehicle parapet with Manx stone pier. The condition stated that "such fencing must acknowledge the prominence of the site and the need to sit comfortably in this street scene." The fencing proposed is similar to that which has been installed at Douglas Harbour and I consider that the fencing would sit comfortably within the street and compliment the setting of Braddan Church. In addition, the owner of land to the north of the junction has requested additional planting of cherry trees to improve the amenity of the immediate area. This aspect is also considered to be acceptable.
